Cohousing in the Blue Ridge Mountains

The Charlotessville Daily Progress has an article on the first cohousing community in central Virginia, Blue Ridge Cohousing.

"It's like a regular development except people have chosen to live closer to each other and be more interactive in their community," said Lazar, who lives in Shadowlake Village in Blacksburg, a cohousing development. For example, he says, he cooks meals for another family on Mondays and they cook for his on another day of the week. Residents end up driving less because community members interact in a shared space, such as a clubhouse, he says, and porches face each other.
